This is a poem to hon.

To be with her is quite fun.

I wish I could see you now.

If I did I would say “wow”.

I’m not very good at these poems.

Books are also called tomes.

You, I very much miss.

So for now I blow you this kiss.

UH? I made that up on the fly, even.  UH? You’re impressed, you can say it.

Love, He who is not unlike a skinny barbarian

This is a poem for hon.

My roller Coaster is almost done.

I love you with all my heart.

When you sleep I can hear you…uhh…never mind.

This poem comes from a brain

That has been under some strain.

But all will erase

When I see your beautiful face.

I can’t wait to see you, my hon.

Here are some quick comics Daniel was inspired to draw during the time of this story. There are some that any parent can likely relate to, others a little more specific to the situation Laura and Daniel found themselves in. Also, as “long distance charges” were still very much a reality in the late 1990’s, e-mail and instant messaging were most often the contact methods of choice for Laura and Daniel when he was in Washington State. Here are a few sample e-mails that brought smiles to Laura’s face, even on her weariest, most frustrating days as a single parent in nursing school.
